General Information

Crush brassy tones for cooler, brighter blonde in 1 use. With crushed violet and blue pigments, this rich formula instantly transforms even the most stubborn brassy yellow and orange tones into cooler, brighter blonde.

Warnings

Avoid contact with fabrics and household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately. Use towel to protect clothing and fabrics from wet hair. For external use only. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Avoid eye contact. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children.

To cancel stubborn brassy orange tones

Ingredients

Directions

Gently massage into wet hair, lather & rinse well. For more intense results, and to fight stubborn brassiness, leave shampoo on hair 2-3 mins. Use daily until desired colour result is achieved. To maintain those results, alternate with your regular shampoo as needed. For best results, follow with Violet Crush Conditioner. Rinse hands immediately after applying shampoo to hair.

Doesn't dry hair too much and very difficult to overtone your hair using it. This is my new HG shampoo and what a fantastic price.

I recently highlighted my hair again, and could see the “brassiness” starting so thought I would give this a try. I LOVE the rich purple colour of the shampoo with its little sparkle! I think it does smell nice as well. The shampoo lathers well also so you don’t need to apply a lot. I did notice a difference after 1st wash like it says on the packet. On the second use I did leave it in for about 5 minutes just out of curiosity and you could really see the blonde come back and that brassiness gone. I was asked if I had my hair done so obviously others noticed how revived it looked!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really loved this shampoo, and was surprised as I've used John Frieda shampoos for blondes in the past, which did nothing for my blonde brassy hair and just irritated my scalp. I normally use Fudge Clean Blonde every few washes, and the colour is very similar, a very dark purple, a true toning shampoo unlike some others. I have a very oily scalp, and fine ombre blonde hair down to my waist. I found the shampoo got rid of both the oiliness well, and the brassiness in my highlights. It was probably a bit too harsh to use every single day though. I used it every third day and the brassiness disappeared. Even though it's very dark purple, I didn't have any issues with it staining my shower or anything. I found it gave an ash blonde result as compared to the Fudge one which can sometimes leave slight violet tones if left too long on very light blonde hair. It did leave my hair a bit dry, but all toning shampoos do, so I just made sure to follow it up with a good treatment mask instead of regular conditioner. Otherwise I had no complaints and will definitely continue to use this whenever my hair starts to look brassy. It foams up really well too and I only needed a small amount to clean my whole hair. Love it!

I have streaks of lighter blond through my hair from the sun and found this shampoo to effectively remove unwanted brassy tones and enhance the contrast between the colours in my hair.I often find purple shampoo to be quite stripping or drying and this was certainly not the case with the John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for Blonds. This shampoo lathered really nicely, washed my hair effectively and rinsed clean. It has a subtle, clean scent that wasn’t too over powering. The John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for Blonds is a very highly pigmented blond shampoo but it did not stain my hands or my shower the way that some other highly pigmented blond shampoos do. I really liked that this product was not just a treatment for my blond hair but also a generally lovely shampoo.With other products I will wash first using my preferred non blond shampoo and then go in for a second shampoo with a product for blonds. This product does double duty and means one less product in my shower. Great price point and comparable to salon/higher end quality shampoos. Good sturdy bottle, easy to squeeze and get all the product out easily. Would recommend and repurchase. \n

I have very light blonde hair prone to quite a lot of brasiness, and this shampoo knocks so much of it out after one go, which is more than I can say for most of the other products I've tried. It's affordable, smells nice, and actually does what it says it will do. What's not to love?

My hair has a light brown base with blonde highlights throughout. These lighter sections tend to go slightly brassy, so I tend to reach for the Fudge Purple Shampoo 1-2 times a week to keep the brassiness under wraps. But after trying the John Frieda Purple Shampoo I'm converted! I love how soft and clean my hair feels after using this shampoo. With others I often wash my hair with a normal shampoo as well to fully clean my hair. With this, I don't have to! \n\nI also love that you only need to keep it on for 2-3 minutes. With the colour I have, 2-3 minutes is more than enough to keep brassiness at bay and I don't have to spend 10 minutes wasting water in the shower waiting for it to sit on my hair. \n\nMy new favourite toning shampoo! \n

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As a natural blonde with highlighted foils colouring I am always after good products to prolong colour and brightness of my hair colour and John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo has been on my list to try for  a while now. I am glad to have an opportunity to trial it as a member of Beauty Crew.  I love this product, it doesn’t stain my scalp or bathroom tiles which is great. It toned my hair and made it a bit cooler tone and all yellowness was gone, has a nice smell quite typical for this type of shampoos. I will definitely use it once a week    and  potentially re purchase it as it is a good value for your money. I tried so many purple shampoos available on the market and this one is definitely in the top 5 my favourites. \n

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! My hair is highlighted and often has a yellow tone, despite paying over $400 for a regular colour and treatment at my hairdresser. I have been on the hunt for something that REALLY works for some time and feel like I have tried every expensive product under the sun, this Violet Crush shampoo works! I don't have particularly oily hair and this does a great job of avoiding stripping the moisture out of my hair like more intense products have in the past. I would and do recommend this product to others and will definitely purchase again and again.

I would use them because I wanted to maintain my blonde hair but I would always have to use an intense treatment after to help my hair recover. When I rinsed this out I was so pleased! My hair didn’t feel stripped it actually felt nourished. I used my regular conditioner and my hair felt amazing, not stripped or dry and it toned my hair really well. I am obsessed with this now and will definitely be buying more when I run out.

This purple shampoo made my hair feel clean and, when left to soak on my hair for 3 minutes, revived the tone of my blonde hair. I am also able to wash every 3 days with this as it keeps my hair so clean and shiny, which is a big win!

I normally mix my with tresemme shampoo so it’s not so heavy and it works wonders. My hair has definitely changed colouring gone are the yellow brassy tones and I have this nice soft blonde I can’t find a single fault with this shampoo

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let me preface this by saying I am a haircare snob, if it isn't the brands I like (usually more expensive) then I'm probably not going to like it. But man did this product suprise me. \nIt comes in a standard shampoo squeezy tube which I do enjoy as its the easiest method to contain in the shower. The shampoo has a pleasant smell, if I'm not mistaken all john freida products all have a similar scent, or at least the ones I have tried, the scent is strong on applying it to the hair but then it disappears, as someone who loves the experience of scents but gets headaches when they linger, this is great. The purple colour is quite dark and intense when coming from the tube, but as you lather it transforms to barely there. This is not to say it doesnt work, my hair is currently a darker blonde which is harder to see a difference with a purple shampoo but it definitely did the job and made my hair less brassy. But unlike other purple shampoos it did not stain my scalp or fingers!!! This makes it a definite winner in my book and I will definitely look at repurchasing it when I run out.\n

It both washes your hair clean and tones at the same time.\nMy hair looks great! My streaks pop brightly and the overall shade is icy and cool with no brassiness whatsoever. Yasss!\nMy hair also feels nice and silky, it doesn’t feel dry like it has when I’ve used toning shampoos in the past.\nThis is just a toning shampoo, there are no lightening ingredients in it.\nI would recommend this product.\n\n

And I thought for the price, it really does a good job at cleaning up the brassy/ yellow tones in my blonde! \nI have used it twice a week- the scent was amazing and my hair was left fresher. \nThe violet pigment in this product has some power so if you're using it correctly you will achieve the right results! With any purple shampoo you will experience some drying after use, just follow up shampoo with a heavier conditioner or a mask.\nI have compared this to a salon bought product and I really could not compare. If you need to refresh your blonde and feel bright again definitely try John Freida Violet Crush Intense Shampoo for blondes.\n

It was a bit scary to use at first because the color looks very intense, but it is easy to use with the instructions. I left it on wet hair for couple minutes and then rinsed, the result was really noticeable. Would recommend it for all blondes. Great product.

John Frieda has always had good products in the purple shampoo range but this really is the next level- in my opinion better than more expensive and prestigious brands!\nThe great thing about this shampoo too is that it doesn't have to sit on your hair for 10 minutes, it works brilliantly within 3 minutes! It not only removes brassiness but leaves your hair clean without feeling totally stripped of all moisture. I felt it also assisted in extending my colour between colour appointments at my salon, to the point I pushed my appointment back by two weeks!\nReally loved this product and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good purple shampoo to nix brassiness asap. \n

It smells great and left my hair really soft and shiny which I find not too many blonde shampoos do. It worked best for me using it twice in a row, then by my third hair wash of the week with a normal shampoo, I found that my hair was rid of any brassiness and looked fresh. The only negative i can think of was that it did dry out my scalp somewhat resulting in some flaking. I have a dry scalp naturally and this occurs with most blonde shampoos so nothing too unexpected.

There was still red tones stuck in my hair but using this shampoo helped reduce them so much that my hair basically looks normal again.\nYou can also just leave it in your hair for a bit for a longer treatment. \nIt is violet scented, and usually I really don't like the scent of violets but this one is not too bad, it is relatively pleasant. \n will definitely continue to use this product because it works overtime. I recommend this product to anyone who has red tones/brassiness in their hair and wants to keep their blondes or highlights looking nice.\n

Violet Crush addresses both issues, leaving me feeling like I've been to the salon. First of all this product looks very appealing and it is in a very user friendly packaging (which enables you to easily squeeze out the product). In terms of using the shampoo, I am very impressed! I have tried multiple purple shampoos in the past and this was probably one of my favourites. This shampoo definitely helped to reduce the brassiness in my hair and left my hair feeling soft, shiny and healthy. This shampoo smells really nice and I will 100% continue to use this product. I would definitely recommend this product for all blondes who are looking to diminish those brassy tones and keep their hair looking silky smooth. \n

No need to make sure it is evenly spread through either. I found as long as I covered all my hair in the shampoo it came out even, no less blonde or super white/purple patches. But make sure you rinse hands as soon as you’re done, does have the ability to stain fingers and nails.\n\nMy desperately-needing-a-touchup balayage was super brassy at the beginning of last week but after 3 uses of this shampoo my hair is looking super fresh, blonde and soft. \n\nWill definitely partner this up with the conditioner to hopefully stretch out touch up appointments! \n

I have blonde hair that can get quite dry from using other purple shampoos. My hair was lovely and soft after use and I noticed that it knocked out the brassiness from root to tip and left a nice cool blonde colour. The product also smells divine and didn't stain my hands or skin with use which is something other shampoos can do.

Leased to say that I do not have any brassy colour in my blonde hair at all, brightened up my hair beautifully and left it soft and shiny. Does exactly what it claims to do. Would be very happy to purchase this shampoo in the future. The packaging is very good, can get every drop out of it.

It can be really difficult to get the brassiness out of my hair but after 3-4min, there was a definite improvement in the colour. I've since started using it once a week and the brass has toned down quite remarkably. I found that it didn't dry out my hair as much as other purple shampoos have and it also lathers up really well. I would definitely recommend this product! It's now my go-to purple shampoo.
