General Information

Crush brassy tones for cooler, brighter blonde in 1 use. With crushed violet and blue pigments, this rich formula instantly transforms even the most stubborn brassy yellow and orange tones into cooler, brighter blonde.

Warnings

Avoid contact with fabrics and household surfaces to prevent staining. If contact occurs, clean immediately. Use towel to protect clothing and fabrics from wet hair. For external use only. Do not apply to a sensitive, irritated or damaged scalp. Discontinue use if rash or irritation occurs. Avoid eye contact. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Keep out of reach of children.

To cancel stubborn brassy orange tones

Ingredients

Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, SodiumLauryl Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Sodium Chloride,Cocamide MEA, Fragrance, Lactic Acid, DimethylIsosorbide, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Malic Acid,Cetyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, GuarHydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide,Disodium EDTA, Glycine, Benzophenone-4, EthylhexylMethoxycinnamate, Sodium Xylenesulfonate,Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone,Blue 1, Ext. Directions

Gently massage into wet hair, lather & rinse well. For more intense results, and to fight stubborn brassiness, leave shampoo on hair 2-3 mins. Use daily until desired colour result is achieved. To maintain those results, alternate with your regular shampoo as needed. For best results, follow with Violet Crush Conditioner. Rinse hands immediately after applying shampoo to hair.

The packaging is a simple squeeze tube with a bright yellow shampoo inside featuring a lovely fresh scent. This kept the brassy tones away and made my hair feel silky smooth and refreshed. I also struggle with fairly oily hair and this seems to help also requiring me to only need to rewash every second or third day without my hair looking disgusting in between wash days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Toning products are always on hand being a blonde and I found this one to do a brilliant job at neutralizing the brassy/yellowy tones in my hair. I usually use purple shampoos as a treatment mask every few weeks to keep my colour looking fresh, and that's how I've been using this one as well (I let it work its magic for 5min max). The smell is lovely too and I think it's a definite must-have for blondes!

I think when comparing the prices, the John Frieda takes the cake. \nMy hair did feel a little dry afterwards but nothing major, a good strength conditioner helped bring the moisture back, it’s what I would expect from a purple shampoo as all brands can be harsh on your hair. \n

I've used multiple purple toning shampoos that haven't done much or nothing at all, but within a few washes using this, my hair has completely transformed from that awful brassy blond to now an elegant ashy blond that I have always tried to achieve. This is such a perfect saloon replacement, I hate going to the hairdressers, it's soo expensive but too maintain a beautiful blond it's something that I thought you just had to do. Well not anymore after, I have used this I can delay my saloon visits and instead buy the John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo for only $17.99. My family and friends all could see a dramatic difference, I can't recommend this enough!

Great texture, non-drying and really does as the packaging says - removes brassiness and really gives a clean light blonde tone. I am a bright blonde (not ashy) and this really does work to remove any yellow from the hair and leaves me with compliments for days; 'have you had your hair re-done?' - nope, just a new shampoo. I would totally give this 6 stars if I could.\n\n

This toning shampoo took all the brassiness out of my hair, I get a full head of blonde foils. It left a refreshed beautiful creamy blonde hue to my slightly brassy hair. Usually toning shampoo’s make my hair dry, however this didn’t which I love. Highly recommend!

I love this shampoo - it is well worth a try you will not regret it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This BRIGHT purple shampoo looks like one of the much more expensive salon brands. It smells really lovely and doesn’t have an overpowering scent. After one wash I noticed that the yellow tinge and brassiness I often get was lifted and I was left with a soft, bright blonde. If left for a longer time you can also get that gorgeous grey tinge, which I love! Immediately my hair colour looked refreshed and it will definitely help me between salon visits! I would recommend this to anyone who struggles with the dreaded brassiness that ruins our beautiful blonde hues or anyone who is trying to get a few more weeks between salon visits. I’ve already purchased some for friends! Just be aware to not leave it on your hands or nails for too long as you will get a slight purplish tinged stain which is normal with any toning shampoo. I Absolutely loved it :)

I used it as a maintenance product to keep the highlights/bayalage free from yellow tint and fresh, bright looking. It contains sulphates , so I do not use it often, can be a bit drying to highlighted bits of hair. Scent pleasant and does not have to be left in hair for too long, just a minute or 3. It is well saturated with purple pigments, considering it is a supermarket brand. Did not stain my skin/hands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This shampoo does contain sulphates. \n\nMy hair is waist long, lightened/bayalaged, fine hair strands prone to damage. After using this shampoo, my hair is toned and not dried out. But perhaps as I use my fave hair masks after toning with this shampoo. The shampoo works in getting those slightly yellowy and orangey tones out of my hair. Keeping the shine too. Took me a few washes to get the results I wanted. As with my HG I get results in one wash . It works, but not as fast as the competitor I prefer to use now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I have salon colour treated hair and have been using purple shampoos and conditioners for blonde hair for years. My hair is different shades of blonde so I always have tone correcting products in the shower at all times to eliminate any brassiness in my hair so when I saw the John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Shampoo for Blondes I thought it would be worth a try.    \n \nIt’s easy to identify the Violet Crush Purple Shampoo by its packaging – a predominately purple plastic tube with a black band at the top and a burst of bright yellow below.  The tube has a flat, flip-top lid which makes it easy to store in the shower, and it holds 245ml of product.  \n \nThe shampoo is a brilliant violet colour with blue pigments and has a rich formula with a consistency which is not too thin or too thick.  I quite like the fragrance of this shampoo although I can’t identify it, even after looking at the list of ingredients, but the shampoo is peroxide-free and ammonia-free.  \n \nI have quite short hair so I don’t need to use too much shampoo, nor do I need to leave the product in my hair for any length of time.  I just do a double shampoo and thorough rinse, and I’ve noticed that my hair feels soft and tangle-free even before I follow up with the John Frieda Sheer Blonde® Colour Renew Tone-Correcting Conditioner to combat any brassiness.  I also only need to use the purple shampoo once a week and use my regular shampoo on my other hair wash day.  \n \nI believe the John Frieda Violet Crush Purple Shampoo for Blondes gives my hair a cooler, brighter blonde finish and keeps my hair looking healthy.  This so important in dyed blonde hair which can look quite dull and yellow if not maintained properly.  \n\n

It’s toning strength is not too crazy, you won’t end up with random purple splotches on your hair definitely! But it still removes most of the brassiness! An added bonus is that it doesn’t stain the shower which I love!

My scalp tends to be a little more oily, so finding the right purple shampoo can be tricky, but I must say this is the top of the list so far!!

I noticed a blonder tone to my hair after two washes which meant I could prolong my salon visit.

I used the product as both a general shampoo and left in for 15minutes when my brassy tones needed something a little stronger. My hair wasn't dried out after use, which was a lot more than could be said for some of your store products. \n\nThe product was easy to dispense, although could at times be too much for a one application. It was a delicious scent, that wasn't too overpowering and left you with that new salon smell. \n\nI will be purchasing product again, and definitely recommend for other blondes. \n

The product itself is purple, and when I applied it to my hair, everywhere was purple! I left it in for 2-3 minutes and it did make my hair slightly brighter. Unfortunately, it made my hair go quite purple quickly though and made my scalp a bit itchy, Overall, it did work but just didn't work for my hair type as I think my hair absorbed too much of it due to its condition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As someone with balayage hair, I need a good violet shampoo that isn't too strong but still keeps brassiness at bay. I have naturally dry hair so I also need something that is gentle on my poor strands!! This is a pretty good product. I wouldn't say it is as strong as some other violet shampoos but it still does a great job and isn't harsh on my damaged hair. For the price I think it is a good purchase.

Interestingly, I have dark blonde to light brown hair and used the product because my hair throws a lot of orange and red tones and it worked a treat. It took away the brassiness and actually prolonged my hair colour than usual. A little product went a long way and because it’s a shampoo it is a lot stronger than toning conditioners. Overall very happy with this product and price range is just right!

When using this shampoo and leaving it in for more than five minutes my hair colour had gone less brassy and ashier which I prefer. I suggest for the best results to use a purple conditioner also

This was great as it toned my hair, didn't stain anything, was super easy to rinse out and my hair didn't feel weighed down at all. \n\nWhile it did tone, it wasn't as instant as the Fudge Clean Blonde where I see almost instant results. This one took a couple of washes to tone down the brassiness. \n

I am only using it twice a week As I feel it’s not needed with every wash, mixing it with my Joico conditioner, my hair does seem to be a little frizzier than normal though since using the purple shampoo but nothing a little hair product can’t fix.

It was nice and gentle on my hair, without the drying properties you often get from many products. It has enough pigment to help correct brassiness and keep my hair looking cool and light without it becoming dry. I could use this and skip using a purple conditioner. It's a really affordable shampoo and I love that I can pick it up from Woolworths or Priceline. The packaging is easy to use as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really enjoyed trialing the John Frieda Violet Crush Intense Purple Shampoo.  I can definitely notice a change in how brassy my hair is now.  I have found that a lot of people have also commented asking whether I have had my hair done recently which demonstrates just how effective this shampoo is.  It has a really lovely smell which I don't find too overpowering.  I did however find that it dries my hair out a bit but that it something I'm used to experiencing with purple shampoos.  I have been using it every time I wash my hair, which is probably a little excessive however, I really enjoy having quite a ashy blonde.  Highly recommend this shampoo for anyone that doesn't want to spend a fortune on a purple shampoo that is almost as good as the expensive ones.

It seemed gentle and gradually toned my hair without leaving hands and skin with a purple tinge. I wasn't too sure about the scent of this product though... I caught a strong 'sweat' smell from this shampoo which I thought was a little odd as I prefer my shampoo to have a more floral scent. The packaging seems sturdy and bright so it would be easy to spot on the supermarket shelf. The bottle size is quite large also so this product will definitely last me a long time. Overall I think this is a good budget purple shampoo and would repurchase.
