How do you clean Medela Solo™?


To clean Medela Solo™ follow the same procedures as for the Swing Flex™ breast pump. Solo™ is quick and easy to disassemble and clean. You can wash the components (except for the tubing) manually or use the dishwasher.

How do you sterilise a Medela Solo™ pump?


Sterilising and sanitising are two different things that sound similar. Sterilisation is a procedure that can only be performed in a special lab, normally this happens for hospital products. Sanitising can be done at home. It is easy to sanitise your Medela Solo™, follow the same simple steps as for Swing Flex™ breast pump: cover the disassembled, washed parts, except for the tubing, with water and boil at least for 5 minutes or use the microwaveable Medela Quick Clean™ bags . For further information and instructions on how to clean and sanitise the tubing, please read our Instructions for use.

Can I turn my single breast pump into a double?

Solo™ is a single electric breast pump. This means that its motor is not suitable for generating sufficient vacuum to extract milk from both breasts at the same time. If you express milk regularly and are interested in a double electric breast pump you should consider Medela's new Swing Maxi™.

Solo™ is a single electric breast pump with closed system, that prevents breast milk from entering the tubing, overflowing and leaking into the pump mechanism. This helps ensure that your expressed milk stays safe and clean, but also that your pump's components are protected from potential damage.

This pump is easy to use, clean, charge and is efficient. I’ll be taking it to work with me to alternate sides with a milk collector and have no doubts it will last the distance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb solo pump-all rounder Best pump I’ve ever used. Medela solo is superb pump, it has made pumping easier for me. Being a mum is so busy on top of that when you have to pump and clean pump/bottles. Easy to assemble and disassemble, super easy to clean. Very convenient for pumping, minimal mess. Quiet and fancy. The only mistake I made is to order solo rather than going for dual now that I’m exclusively pumping. It takes me bit linger to finish pumping both sides but it has helped me to establish good milk supply.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get it to work. The next day I went and bought the Medela Solo as it was the only pump I could get that day living in a rural area. It was so easy to use and worked right away, which was a massive relief for this tired, stressed mama! I later borrowed a double breast pump from my local hospital but I love the portability of the Solo. I could push Bub in the pram to get him to sleep while pumping at the same time! A double pump might be easier next time to save time, but this is a great, affordable option for someone who is only pumping occasionally. It is also very easy to clean, all the bottle parts can go in the dishwasher. Highly recommend!

I love this pump comparatively with others on the market. Simple easy to use control system, love to portability and recharging ability. Pump is relatively quiet. I love that it only has three parts to assemble and clean each time and the flange feels really comfortable and sturdy.
