General Information

Bio-Oil Dry Skin Gel® is a unique oil-based gel moisturiser designed for dry skin.

The unique gel-to-oil texture absorbs easily and creates a protective film to resist moisture loss and restore dry skin to its optimal hydrated state.

Bio-Oil® Dry Skin Gel has a high-oil formulation with hydrating ingredients. It contains emollients such as shea butter and humectants like glycerin and urea, along with skin soothing ingredients such as chamomile oil, rosemary oil and lavendar oil for an exceptional moisturising result.

It is non-comedogenic (doesn’t block pores) and gentle enough to be used on sensitive skin. It is paraben free and vegan friendly. Safe for its intended use by adults, including pregnant and lactating women, and children over three years old.

I have used the Bio Oil before which I enjoyed but was eager to give the gel a go. I like using it straight after stepping out of the shower. It goes onto the skin pretty easily and soaks In quite quickly. It’s not greasy and within a week I noticed that the dry skin on my legs had improved. Have purchased this again and continue to enjoy it.

It is great for dry skin and I use it overnight for a wonderful overnight replenishing option for my face and wrinkles. Perfect for all skin types and you don't need to use to much to get great coverage. I use it also on my scars and have seen an improvement in their appearance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Impatient People So I have used the original bio oil and didn't like it as it felt like it took FOREVER to soak in, and I did not have the patience for that. This new format is soooo much better. Being a gel oil ot soaks in very quickly and doesn't feel as heavy on the skin as the traditional bio oil. It still has the traditional bio oil scent, but that also doesn't seem to be as strong as the original, so you can apply it during the day as well as night.

It’s a jelly like consistency and you only need a tiny amount. I’ve only just received but I’m already in love with it. Am using on dry spots like hands and feet where oil isn’t practical and small dry patches I have that need intense moisture. You can really use it anywhere. It blends in perfectly and leaves skin feeling lovely. I’ll use in conjunction with oil.

I now use the gel at bedtime and in the mornings as it is thicker than the serum and seems to plump up my skin .i still use the serum when I apply makeup but any other times it’s the Gel for me .

Its compactable container makes transportation easy and it's extremely easy to use, only need a small amount leaving your skin moisturised and soft after every use. Highly recommend this item for dry skin or as a daily moisturiser.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ages you backwards I used this after I got severely sun burnt and then realised it was making me look even younger. It may come across as a weird texture but once you work it in the skin it's very hydrating and feels like cold jelly. Makes my skin shiny and hydrated. I recommend wearing it before you sleep as a recovery mask for severely dyhrated skin leaves your face plumb and luscious and ready for the day. I stopped wearing foundation after using this product consectively as I saw huge improvements. However wearing makeup on top of it is not a good idea as it causes separation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mixed feelings I was quite excited about trying this product. I've used the oil before, after having open heart surgery I applied it to the scar. This sounded like a much easier, and less messy, way to use the product. Because it was winter I decided to use this gel as a night time moisturiser. My skin, now that I'm in my 50's can get quite dry in the winter. Even though you don't really use a lot, I felt like this tub lasted forever, because it is a gel you need to use more than necessary to get the coverage. Then once your skin warms the gel it suddenly becomes a lot runnier. Too much to absorb so you are left with a shiny, oily face that at times is a bit irritating. For that reason I think the oil is probably a better way to go as very often I found myself wiping the excess off. Which is wasteful. But I did like the results. My skin felt very hydrated and soft.

I suffer from dry patches on my arms and legs which become quiet itchy while at work or trying to sleep. It’s an endless cycle and finding something that acts as a barrier strong enough that it doesn’t need reapplying throughout the day is a struggle. I applied the lotion after a shower and instantly the distress signals to the area vanished. It lasted till I came home and showered that evening to which I reapplied the salve. As long as your not a light sleeper this stuff stays put otherwise it might be best to cover it with a bandage patch. After several months of use or the change of season eventuates the skin problem had receded .

So I was eager to try this because during winter, my skin is so dry. The product itself feels moisturising and it is not greasy. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and loved. After a few applications, I can see a slight improvement in my skin so I can’t wait to keep using it!

It’s not your ordinary bio oil, but lives in a tub as a gel, making it very easy to use and glide over you problem areas without making a mess. Love the scent, the packaging and its purpose.

It comes in a handy 100ml container that is easy to store and use. It hydrates the skin as well as adding moisture. Its good for dry skin and sensitive skin.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok but thought it would be stronger After having surgery in May, i had to find a product that i could use to reduce the appearance of my scars so i decided to use this Bio Oil gel to see how it would go. This gel leaves your skin very velvety once dried and rubs in well however with scars I have not found it makes much difference with the appearance of them, so I wonder if other bio oil products are more effective. I think it is OK for general stretch marks. The original bio oil might be a better alternative to look for a better choice to use for scar management and it also depends on the severity of the scars. Apart from that, any abrasions or marks on the skin seem to heal well with the use of this gel. But it doesn't firm the skin of you have had a large weight loss and are carrying quite a bit of loose skin around with you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sticky gel. During my last pregnancy, I was using the Bio-Oil and this dry skin gel to help prevent stretch marks and keep my skin moisturised. Whilst the oil was really easy to use, I wasn't a fan of this gel. It didn't absorb quickly and was sticky. I would only use it on a patch of really dry skin after having a shower and then let it air dry but I wouldn't recommend it on a bigger area like the belly and boobs. The small size of the gel makes it good to take along a trip and not mess with the oil bottle, so that is one positive side of this product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works very well, but heavily fragranced I have really enjoyed using this product when I have been away from home and on the road, because it comes in such a small tub and a little goes a really long way. I find it keeps my body skin very moisturised, and I really appreciate that it is non comedogenic as it doesn't clog my pores. The only problem I have with it is it has a very strong fragrance (sort of a menthol type smell with a few other added scents). It is not suitable for people such as myself who get migraine attacks from strong scents.

I've used Bio-Oil before and I did not prefer to use it as my skin moisturiser. My sister convinced me to try this new Bio-Oil gel for my dry and rough skin condition. Have been trying this product for almost 2 weeks now and I'm still not fully convinced. I felt that the oil/gel just stays on the surface of my skin and did not really get absorbed into the skin to moisturise it. The oil/gel just acts as an occlusive barrier, just as when I applied any petroleum jelly on my skin. Plus point is this product does not feel too heavy or oily on my skin. I rate this product as 3 stars as I like the gel format, the tub packaging and the subtle fresh scent.

I don't know if it's just me, or if it's the product, but there's something about the texture of the product that doesn't work. It goes on fine - spreads well - but then is runny and just stays runny. I don't feel it absorbing at all. And because it's runny, you can't clothes over it. I tried it as a lip balm but it also didn't work as it just was far too runny! I think maybe if there was ever a reformulation I would give it another go, but for now I wouldn't recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from 90 minutes of oiliness This is one of those sad instances where trying to do two things instead of one means you don’t do anything well. I’ve been a longtime user of the original Bio=Oil, but was hoping this gel format might reduce the greasiness felt after using. Instead it was worse. While the original remains oily/greasy on the skin for about 1/2 hour, this ‘gel’ remains oily for 90 minutes – yes, I timed it, as I wanted to make sure I wasn’t exaggerating the timeframe for my analysis. Regardless of any dry skin benefits it might deliver (and honestly I only used three times before the oiliness beat me) the long-term oiliness makes it unusable in my opinion.
