Rated 5 out of 5 by from Online Excellence, Bargain Price First off, if you’ve come here you’re not likely to be swayed by hype from so-called experts. You also know that, regardless of age or sexual orientation, no man wants to smell like he’s trying too hard. Or like the perfume counter at a department store. Or like a handkerchief drawer in his grandparents’ house. So how can I help with this decision? The snag is that unless someone we know already uses this eau de toilette, there’s a big leap of faith here. We can’t try it before we buy. It’s online only. Fortunately, this also means that we’re not paying for real estate, fancy shops or persuasive sales staff, so this “gamble” becomes very, VERY affordable. There’s more good news in that most of the “big name” mens’ fragrances cost up to ten times as much. You read correctly: adding a zero to the price buys an EDT “for men” that’s in the same league as this one. Then again, quite possibly one that is not as good. Enough about what it isn’t …here’s what it is. It’s a top notch French made fragrance packaged in a superbly tactile “designer" flask topped by one of the best air pump “natural spray" atomisers that I’ve experienced in my five decades of using EDTs. The initial citrus “hit” reminds me of the very best ever from the "old school”. Legends of the 1970’s and 80’s spring to mind such as Dior's original Eau Sauvage or Habit Rouge by Guerlain. This stuff fairly roars out of the bottle providing an almost unparalleled aromatherapeutic start to the day, but one that only lasts around twenty minutes. Fortunately this then settles to a far more subtle vanilla with a slight citrus tang that stops it from being cloying or overly sweet. Just as well, because most folks would probably find the initial burst too much for commuting or work. “Subtly clean and fresh” would be the best description I can give of the final aroma that persists for six to eight hours. Finally, I’ve lost count of the number of both men and women whose compliments have been prefaced by words such as “I probably can’t afford it but…” …after which they’ve promptly taken note of this website and the low asking price.
