Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes some practice When I first started using this pill cutter my pills always ended up smashed or being unequally split - which led to think that this product was garbage. 1 month on I can safely say I am able to split my pill into pretty much 4 (roughly) equal quarters without much hassle. One tip to new users: Point the pill such that the "V" of the cutter is pointing to the ground and place the pill such that it sits snugly at the narrowest point of the V. I found that gradually building up force until the pill split worked better than just using whacking it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to get an even 50/50 cut This cutter feels well constructed, with the internal rubber base for the pill to sit on to keep it more secure as the blade comes down. However, in practice, I found it quite hard to get an even 50/50 cut -- often one side was bigger than the other. In the end, I found technique was important - pressing down the lid slowly yields a more even cut than pressing it down fast.

I would like to say it was 'User Error' but 3 members of the household all used it and it did the same thing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ten dollars down the drain I need to cut my pills into 4 pieces as dosage requirements. Yes it cuts but it doesn't cut straight. The blade is too flimsy, the pill compartment is too wide for a tablet and it moves around and gives you a unequalled cut.
