General Information

The Omron MC720 Forehead Thermometer provides fast non-contact forehead temperature measurement for all ages. It features 3-in-1 measurement: Forehead, Room & Surface Temperature. It also has night reading features and a 25 reading memory.

WARNING - KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN
• Swallowing may lead to serious injury in as little as 2 hours or death, due to chemical burns and potential perforation of the oesophagus
• If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a button battery immediately call the 24-hour Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 (Australia) or 0800 764 766 (New Zealand) for fast, expert advice
• Examine devices and make sure the battery compartment is correctly secured, e.g. that the screw or other mechanical fastener is tightened. Do not use if compartment is not secure
• Dispose of used button batteries immediately and safely. Flat batteries can still be dangerous
• Tell others about the risk associated with button batteries and how to keep their children safe

• A high or prolonged fever requires medical attention, especially for young children. Please contact your doctor
• Conducting self-diagnosis based on the measurement results and/or treatment can be dangerous. Please follow the instructions of your doctor. Self-diagnosis may worsen the symptoms
• Do not use this unit for any other purpose that what it is intended for
• Keep out of reach of children. Contains small parts that may cause a choking hazard if swallowed
• Do not allow children to take their temperatures unattended. Children may injure themselves when attempting to take temperatures without supervision
• Do not use a mobile phone or other devices that emit electromagnetic fields, near the unit. This may result in incorrect operation of the unit
• Follow the battery instructions carefully

Directions

Please read the full Instructions for Use provided with the product prior to using.
• Allow thermometer to rest for at least 30 minutes at room temperature (10°C - 40°C)
• Test your temperature when you are well so you have a comparison when you are unwell
• Do not bathe, use a cold compress or exercise 30 minutes prior to the reading
• Remain in a stable environment for at least 5 minutes
• Your forehead must be clean and free of sweat, make up and scars, etc.
• Always make sure probe lens is clean. Wipe it lightly with a soft dry cloth or a cotton swab
• Make sure it is set to forehead measurement mode
• When taking the measurement, make sure the probe lens is 1 to 3cm away from the centre of the forehead
• When measuring the temperature of an infant, note that infant body temperature is generally higher than adult body temperature and easily affected by external factors. For example, body temperature tends to increase after nursing or crying. Therefore, it is recommended to take measurements when the infant is calm
• Keep still during the measurement
• Take three measurements, if they are different, select the highest temperature
• The reading will be stored automatically in the memory
• Holding the thermometer too long may cause a higher ambient temperature reading of the probe. This could make the body temperature measurement lower than usual
• Forehead and ear thermometer readings can be different due to one being an external reading and the other an internal reading.
• Do not store the thermometer in a cold room

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gives temperatures with 1 degree Celsius This thermometer shows temperatures with 1 degree Celsius difference at 2 different points on the forehead. I have not at all been able to get accurate temperature of my kid who is 1 year. On his left temple it shows 37.3, on forehead 38.2 and on right temple it shows 38.8. Not at all accurate.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inaccurate Result Waste of money I bought this last Saturday for my kid as i do not want to disturbed him while he is sleeping to take his temperature at night but the result is inaccurate it always gives a higher reading even the temperature is normal. I tried to returned to chemist warehouse but unfortunately the manager did not allow me to exchange or refund what she suggested is to replace the battery , so i did but even the battery is new the result is still iinaccurate. Very disappointed its not worth it waate of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lousy thermometer Bought this thermometer 4 months ago. Used maybe a couple of times. Already out of battery and it uses CR2032. Who uses these batteries these days for such devices. The battery compartment was large enough to hold 2 x AAA batteries yet they used the button battery. No careful thoughts put into this thermometer when designing. Hassle to use as well as the thermometer does an initialisation before it checks the temperature. If you want something easy to use, stay away from this thermometer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Consumes Batteries like there's no tomorrow! I bought this thermometer back in Nov 2019 and I just replaced the battery for the 3rd time today (28/Aug/20). I'd never owned an electronic thermometer before and regret not doing some research before this purchase; I simply trusted the Omron brand which was a big mistake. All the reviews tell a similar story. Inaccurate reading and batteries which don't last because it obviously has a design flaw that allows the power to drain even when it's not in use. I bought it when my wife became ill. I guess we used it frequently initially say 20-30 times over a period of a few weeks. After that we put it away and got it out again a few months later to find the battery was flat. I was quite surprised thinking the supplied battery was obviously cheap so I replaced it with a good Energizer. After replacing the battery I only used it once to test that it was working and packed it away then today I wanted to check my temperature only to find the battery was flat once again. Very frustrating! By the way I phoned the Omron customer service number to see what they had to say about the battery life but nobody answered; instead I had to leave a recorded message which I did asking them to call me back but guess what, nobody did so that's a double fault for Omron. So my advice to you is to steer clear and buy any thermometer other than the Omron brand.

I was panicked I wrapped him up, brought him to hospital immediately. The nurse checked on him again and it came up 37.4, she asked why did I bring him to the emergency department? I should've read all the reviews before purchasing.

The GP took my son’s temperature with her ear thermometer and got 36.8 whereas this thermometer read 39.7!! Chemist warehouse were excellent, we returned it and got the Braun ear thermometer instead :)

I thought it was faulty so sent back to the company and got a replacement of brand new one. However the replaced thermometer has got the same problem. Waste of time and money. Now I need to buy another one. Really annoyed!

I was very excited and thought it was going to be so easy to use, but i was wrong. I am a computer professional and use many different software and hardware products and i must say i could not operate this even after reading the manual. There is no way to turn it off either. Went through 2 batteries already. You would think they would use your standard AA or AAA batteries, no you need to get cr2032. Total disappointment, back to old school thermometers. Sam
