What are hair bonds?

Hair Bonds are protein chains found in the inner most part of the hair, the cortex. When hair is submitted to stress from colouring, styling or simply just brushing these hair bonds can break causing deep damage.

How do you treat broken hair bonds?

Elvive Bond Repair contains Citric Acid which helps build inner broken hair bonds. The molecule is small enough to penetrate deep within the hair to give back its original strength.


When should I use Elvive Bond Repair?

Elvive Bond Repair works on all levels of damaged hair and all hair types. Start with the Bond Repair Pre-shampoo, by applying on damp hair and allowing it to sit for 5 minutes. Directions

How to use this pre-shampoo:
An intensive rinse-off treatment before shampooing for the deepest hair
repair. Apply a generous amount of this hair product on damp hair, from scalp to ends until hair is
thoroughly saturated. Leave on for 5 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
Follow with the Bond Repair Shampoo and Conditioner.

I’m not used to using a pre-shampoo product, and I did find it tricky to distribute it through my hair if I left it too long between washes and my hair was too oily. It also needs to sit on the hair for 5 minutes before rinsing and shampooing, so it’s not the best if you’re trying to just get a quick wash in. In saying that, I do think it contributed to my hair feeling and looking smoother and stronger.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The first thing I noticed about this pre-shampoo was the lovely (but not overpowering) scent that leaves hair smelling wonderful! I have never used a pre-shampoo before, but I’d definitely use this one again, as it left my hair feeling hydrated but not weighed down or heavy. The only down side is that you have to leave it in damp hair for five minutes, so it’s not conducive with your daily quick shower when combined with numerous other steps.

I found that I needed quite a lot of product to really saturate my hair as directed. I could feel & see a noticeable difference in my hair from the very first wash using the full bond repair range, but I'm not sure if this is a necessary step every wash. It definitely extended my shower time as it needs to be left in for 5 minutes before following with the shampoo. After using it for 2 weeks my hair looks so much healthier, is much softer and more manageable. The highlight for me though is the massive reduction in hair loss. I'm not sure if this is due to less breakage or healthier hair follicles, but I am very happy with the results. I used this pre-shampoo in-conjunction with the shampoo, conditioner & leave-in serum. I look forward to seeing just how good my hair can get with continued use.

The pre shampoo repair needs to be in for 5 minutes, not ideal for conserving water if you are already in the shower. Next time I used it. I was prepared and put it on before I got undressed, allowing the proper time before following on with other products.

I have used similar as scalp treatments before but this said to use throughout hair. It felt a bit strange to use as it doesn't foam like a shampoo or scrub like a scalp treatment. It also adds a significant amount of time to a hair wash as it says to leave in 5 minutes after applying to wet hair, which is a lot of time to be hanging around in the shower. This has been good for my skincare as I've been doing face masks and body scrubs in this time but it would be hard to commit to regularly. Overall my hair feels great and I love these products, but it's hard to know how much of that is due to the pre-treatment as opposed to the rest of the range.

I noticed the product wasn't foamy when applying so I made sure I used enough to cover. It had a clean smell. It didn't have any kind of texture while applying. After waiting 5 minutes I rinsed and noticed my hair felt a lot cleaner. The texture was not much different but I could tell it was thoroughly cleaner.

As a pre- shampoo, i felt like I needed to plan when I was going to wash my hair. Having to wash my hair over the sink, as I didn't wan to waste water having a shower for 5 minutes while I wait for the product to work wasn't great! I think just using the L’Oreal Paris Elvive Bond Repair Shampoo is enough.

What I like a lot about the conditioner and the serum in the Elvive Bond Repair range is that I felt those 2 items could be used on their own and still deliver great results. But I didn’t feel that way about L’ Oréal Paris Elvive Bond Repair Rescue Pre-Shampoo as I didn’t see real benefits afterwards. Also it does add a 6-7 minutes to the hair care routine. With the current cost of living always increasing, I am trying to reduce costs so I am not keen to buy a rescue pre shampoo which is a bit pricey and requires to use more water unless it's an amazing product; I am very likely however to buy the Elvive Bond Repair conditioner and serum on their own as I felt those were more efficient. But in saying all that, the Elvive Bond Repair Rescue Pre-shampoo was pleasant to use. Texture and smell are good and my hair felt clean and light afterwards.

It does smell great but it feels like a conditioner being wasted as the next step is to shampoo not sure how it is benefiting my hair if it’s being washed out?

I know I should focus on me more but there aren't enough hours in the day. The Elvive Bond Repair pre-shampoo is great in theory and does an awesome job, however I just didn't have the time to dampen my hair, pre shampoo, then shampoo. I found I skipped this step most of the time. However when I did use it, it definitely made a difference. It left my hair cleaner after the shampoo and smoother.
