Warnings

As with any retinol product, it is normal to temporarily experience mild redness, a warm, tingling sensation or flaking (skin exfoliation). Directions

RETINOL PRO + is recommended for retinol users and not for beginners.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gentle retinol serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Retinol is one of the best ingredients you can use in your skincare and I love that this version is so gentle on the skin. This is a good product for beginners but honestly anyone can use it. It comes in a bottle with a dropper and one of my first observations was that it didn't feel like a serum at all. In fact it felt a lot like an oil. The texture and consistency of serums work much better for my skin and this had more of an oily feeling to it. I only applied several drops to my skin and massaged it in. It didn't sink quite as fast as I was hoping and my skin did look a bit shiny but since I was using this at night I wasn't too worried. I decided to use this every other day and so far I can see that my skin is looking brighter and healthier. I could also tell that the texture of my skin improved, it felt so smooth.

The serum colour is clear and the texture is quite light, which made it feel refreshing and easy to apply. My skin does feel slightly softer and smoother after using this serum with my usual moisturiser. I have used other retinol products before this one, so it was not a problem for me to use the 0.5% pure serum straightaway. However, for beginners I would not say this is something to start with. The bottle feels contemporary and the dropper cap design made it easy to measure how much to use each time. Also I was pleased to see this serum is made in France. Overall, this is a good value serum for experienced retinol users.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average at best [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Retinol Pro+ .5% Power Serum to try as I regularly use retinol in my night-time skincare regime. The packaging is simple but aesthetic. It is a decent size bottle too. I used this daily for over 2 weeks and didn't see a drastic firming effect as promoted which was disappointing. This may be more effective on other skin but mine did not show significant improvements. A plus is that the texture when applied is smooth and it absorbs relatively well. I've given the rest of this to a family member to trial that also uses retinal in their daily night care routine. Hopefully they will see better results that I did.

The packaging looks quite nice and is easy to dispense. I didn't find the smell to be offensive or overpowering. I also found that the serum dries fairly quickly when placed onto the skin. I tried to apply more of the serum on focus areas (mouth lines, brow, etc) as opposed to just slathering it all over my face. I haven't found that it smooths out fine lines/wrinkles as effectively as other retinol-based products. I also didn't experience any skin shedding or flakiness like I have with previous products. I feel this would be a great product for people who are unfamiliar with retinol and would like to give it a go. The product is very well priced!
