Yes. The closed system in Swing Maxi and Swing Maxi Flex breast pumps prevents milk from overflowing and leaking into the pump mechanism. This helps ensure that your expressed milk stays safe and clean, but also that your pump's components are protected from potential damage.

How do you sterilise a Medela Swing Maxi breast pump?

To sterilise the Medela Swing Maxi breast pump is simple: Submerse the pump set parts in boiling water on the stovetop for five minutes or use the microwaveable Medela Quick Clean bags for sterilisation.

I'm so glad i purchased this Medela Swing Maxi because i stress less when pumping because i get more milk out, it feels more comfortable to wear, it has different sucking strenghts and is quiet. Me being a bigger breasted girl i could also get a bigger flange size. I am so happy with this pump and the price was well worth it.

The pump was easy to pull apart for cleaning and to put back together. When fully charged it lasted a while which was convenient as I wasn't always having to charge it everyday. The machine was a little bit noisy to do next to bub who was sleeping but all in all I loved the pump and used it for a long time and will use it with my next bub.

My milk supply dramatically dropped and once myself and my baby were on the road to recovery I didn’t have enough milk. It was recommended to double pump from the ABA to mimick demand. I loved the fact it is super portable as I can move about pumping whilst doing other tasks. It is super quiet compared to other pumps. You can swap it down to singular pumping plus it’s charge holds for approx 10pumps. Highly recommend for any new mum!! Worth the money however shop around for a bargain as you may find it on sale at different websites.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wasn’t set on buying this pump if I needed one, but after coming home from hospital, my baby started refusing to feed. This was the best option I could get in store on such short notice as I didn’t have the time to order what I wanted online. Looking back, I’m so so glad I purchased this as I responded super well to it and it allowed me to continue providing my baby breastmilk. 5 months down the track, whilst I no longer use it frequently, it’s still in fantastic condition. So easy to set up and use, comfortable, worth every cent and the smartphone app that does with it is fantastic! I added a carabiner to mine to make hanging it easier, and would hook it to my clothes when using medela’s pump bra to be hands free whilst moving around.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this pump at 10pm from a 24hr chemist the night my newborn was admitted to the NICU and I needed to express milk for her during her stay. At the time I knew nothing about breastfeeding or expressing. I trusted the Medela brand for two reasons. 1: the hospital used Medela pumps and products and 2: I read good reviews online. I was incredibly happy with this pump. It was so easy to learn, particularly for a stressed out, now Mumma. After using full time for a week I now use the pump approx 5-10 times a week to express excess milk and store in the freezer/fridge. The pump has never missed a beat. Lasts almost the 10 pumps without charging and the minimal mystic design and buttons create fuss free use without complicating anything. What I also love is that I can strap the pump on using the specific bra, hang the pump around my neck using a lanyard and tend to baby or get some housework done! I recommend this pump to all mums.

I have used it several times a day, everyday, for 7 weeks so far and have had no issues. It's so quiet and easy to use and being hands free is so convenient. My only complaint is that I cannot find a belt clip that is compatible so have to put the motor part in a pocket or hang it from my finger if I need to do things whilst pumping. They have multiple flange sizes and the soft shield is very comfortable on your breast.

Having good experience with medela in the past, I chose them again. This pump is really compact still has good power and being double it helps to cut down the time needs in half. I will define recommend medela over other brands as it is available all over Australia and you can buy most of the parts from local chemist if required. Pumps well with any discomfort or pain. And small enough to carry whenever you want.

It is super easy to use, convenient and travels well. I find the suction to be quite similar to breastfeeding and I like that you can increase or decrease the intensity to your preference. I have been exclusively pumping for 4.5 months and bought this double pump as a spare pump, which would be more portable for returning to work and travel than my hospital grade pump. I use this pump with my pumpin pal breast shields and they fit perfect! The suction is terrific and for how small and compact this is, it stands up to my hospital grade pump. The pump is light and rechargeable, so you don’t have to be connected to the wall or continue to replace batteries all the time which is a major improvement on the original swing. When fully charged, I can pump 3 30 minute sessions before the red light flashes to let me know it needs to be recharged. Pros: - easy to assemble and clean! - great suction. - rechargeable through a USB type cord and has lasted me approx 1.5 hours without having to charge (3x30 minute pumping sessions). - Can use other shields (as above, I use pumpin pals and these have not lost suction while using the pump at all). - can use most standard narrow bottle neck bottles. - it’s light weight, even the connectors are light weight but has been built practically and is also of great quality compared to other pumps. Cons: - the older style swing on the back has a clip to clip onto your pants or clothes to make it more portable, however this one does not. - the vacuum lines are a bit short for my liking and as such, restrict movement. - I haven’t found anywhere that sells just the membrane to replace on the pump as they wear down. - It’s a little on the noisy side. Overall, this is a fantastic little pump to invest in for portability and to maintain your milk supply.

This pump has been amazing, easy to assemble and disassemble. Easy to clean and dries quickly. Bottles attach direct to pump and you can pause mid pump to change out bottles if they fill up. The only downside is you can't replace the backflow protector as suggested every 3 months without purchasing the whole connector which is frustrating.

It's also handy that it pumps directly into a bottle which can then be fed to your child. I did have an issue with the battery of mine originally which was faulty, and had to get it changed. I also found replacing the pump parts to be very expensive and hard to find in Australia. Not many retailers seem to stock just the pump part replacements. I would recommend for Medela to make these easily available.

A girlfriend recommended Medela, so I picked this new model. This one is quite good and convenient especially for new mums who have no breastfeeding experience. The biggest feeling of using Medela breast pump for more than 3 months is that it really doesn't hurt to suck, and I don't feel burdened by breastfeeding anymore. At the beginning, I used the breast pump to express milk at night, but at a later stage, I did the opposite. I now generally express once every three hours, basically enough for the baby to consume.
