Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great scent and value, works nicely [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This hair treatment is great value for the price and size of the tub and it works! I loved the fresh watermelon scent which lasts on my hair even after rinsing out. Marketed for fine hair I was skeptical that it would weight down my very straight and fine hair, but I was surprised that it still offered movement, and body as well as adding hydration and shine. If I could change anything it’d be the packaging - in the shower it’s a little tricky to open the tub, scoop out the product, and put the lid back on while trying not to get water in the tub or accidentally wash it the product off my fingers! Overall I would recommend hair food to friends and family with hair types that are fine to normal and need a little boost of moisture and conditioning.

For reference, I have super fine hair / shoulder length and it’s super dry. The product smells divine, of course you must love watermelon to love the scent but because I do it’s grand. The product itself I found super nourishing and hydrating. I will definitely continue using it long after this trial ends. My only gripe is that I hate the container it’s in as it makes it so easy for contamination and it’s actually too big. I wish they made them 50% of this size as I will never be able to finish this container which makes it feel wasteful.

Even if this product didn’t work I would no joke lather it all over my hair daily just for the delightful heady aroma of sweet fruity watermelon (takes me back to the glory tween days of obsessing over watermelon lip smackers *drool*) Thankfully that’s not the case, and in addition to my hair smelling like summer, it’s also shiny / stronger / healthier overall. I’m in the ocean a lot so my blonde hair has a tendency to resemble fine dry straw – but if I use this mask weekly I notice a HUGE difference (I tend to favour it as an overnight mask, the product dries nicely on damp hair without leaving residue all over my pillows) I’m so happy Fructis (long time favourite brand) has developed the vegan / paraben and silicone free products as I honestly notice a difference in how it leaves my hair (clean and smooth with no “stickiness”). Very happy with the consistency (quite thick) and value as one tub goes a LONG way, and the packaging is cute af!! 10/10 recommend as a great bang for your buck, hair saving, nostalgic smelling, miracle treatment.

I have fine hair so it’s essential that it A: doesn’t just make my hair go “limp” B: doesn’t make my hair greasy and this treatment definitely didn’t do either of those! I used it in the shower as a conditioner, left it for a couple of mins, rinse - felt so silky. Was easier to style and it had a slight volume effect on my hair. So win for me! I also used it as a leave in conditioner - used only about a 10c size, distribute evenly through dry hair on the ends. Didn’t feel greasy at all and helped condition my ends. Can we also talk about how AMAZING it smells? Watermelon reminds me of summer!! Great consistency and the tub size is great! Not a super over powering scent but I get quick whiffs of it throughout the day (which I love). I keep this in the shower so it’s ready! I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who has fine hair or anyone who likes a lightweight,non greasy treatment!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This came just the right time I desperately needed something to work with my heavily damaged hair! I tried as a conditioner and mask, but found it to be best for leave-in treatment after shower for my hair. It makes my damaged hair looks healthy and manageable again! I have also encouraged my partner to try it and he loved it too, he says it does make hair lighter. With using it as a conditioner, it had the same effect as a normal hair conditioner, but as a mask it did make my hair felt lighter and bouncer after shower. I do recommend this product for anyone with damaged hair and nothing has worked to make it look healthy again

I mostly used the product as a conditioner or hair mask. I used it once as a leave in treatment but found it weighed my hair down too much despite my hair being fine. The product initially smelled nice but on second smell it smelled more of a chemical strong artificial watermelon scent. The product is a good consistency and is easy to apply to my hair. It applies easily and washes out of my hair easily. It leaves my hair soft and bouncy. I leave it in my hair for about five minutes before washing it out. It is a quick and easy treatment or conditioner to make fine hair more bouncy. You get a lot of product also in the container making it good value. Overall it is a great product but would be good if the scent was improved to be less artificial.

I was pleasently surprised with this product - My hair felt smooth, nourished, and not overly weighed down. I enjoyed using it as a conditioner, a treatment, and a mask (though I must admit, the mask was a bit too much for my hair). I quite enjoyed the scent - not too sweet. I do apprciate the effort to have no parabens, SLS, and trying to focus in on vegan and sustainable - a step in the right direction.

It's a triple-threat hair mask, conditioner and leave-in treatment. I only used it as a hair mask and conditioner because I've got greasy hair. The product smells great and comes in a massive tub that looks like it will last for ages. I'm not a big fan of products in tubs (because hygiene). I used it in the shower and left it on my hair for around 5 minutes. It was nice and thick, easy to apply and rinsed out cleanly. My hair definitely felt smooth, silky and moisturized afterwards. My kids also told me that my hair smelled 'yum'. It didn't weigh down my fine hair. I'd probably use this as a treatment once a week. I've used other Fructis hair products before, and generally find that you get what you pay for. This product is about par for the course. A good, reliable (but not outstanding) product for the price.

I used it in place of my conditioner and also as a mask. You can also use it as a leave in. I have fine hair that's gets weighed down very easily and this left my hair feel hydrated yet lightweight, which is really important to me. It's even better than an actual volumising conditioner I was using. I usually only like to use salon quality brands but this surprised me and could be my new favourite :-0 Also smells really nice. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Strong Scent [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Volumising Watermelon Hair Food comes in a white tub with a green lid which arrived broken in the mail with half of the product outside of the tub. Since the tub's lid was destroyed I decanted the product into an old shampoo bottle with a pump which I find more ideal than the tub for use in the shower. When I opened the parcel I was hit with a super strong watermelon scent that lingers for a very long time. The Hair food appears white in colour and is thick in texture. I love the fact that the hair food comes in a generous tub of 390mL and is of 97% natural origin and that it is 98% biodegradable. This hair food is aimed at people for fine hair (like mine) and is able to be used in 3 ways. As either a conditioner, a mask or leave in (10 cent amount). Over the period of the trial I have tried this product in all three ways and I agree that this product is a great conditioner and/or hair mask or a leave in but I do not agree on this product being volumising, it is not that type of product, especially as I only use conditioner type products to the mid lengths to the ends of my hair due to having an oily scalp so I noticed no volumising effect. After use as a conditioner or mask I have found that this hair food helps with keeping my hair soft and healthier than usual without weighing it down. The loss of stars is due to the container not surviving transit and the voluminsing claim which I saw no evidence of in my hair. Made in Germany.

That it is biodegradable is icing on the cake I tried all three ways, here is the breakdown of how they went. 1. By far the best way I found to is as a treatment. It was easy to use and smelt amazing. My hair was so shiny and healthy looking. 2. The next best way was as a conditioner. It was still shiny and heathy looking. Just not as much as with the treatment method. I also noticed with both that my hair was light and bouncy, neither way weighed it down. 3. As a leave-in conditioner, unfortunately, it didn’t work. It was just to thick for my hair and left it clumpy and unclean. I find this with most cream based leave in conditioners. I would definitely recommend this for others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smells divine and works ok [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Treatment smells divine, with just the right amount of fragrance that lingers subtly on your hair. I used this product as a treatment, as that is how it best fit into my current routine for my hip length slightly wavy fine hair. I have used this once a week for a few weeks and found that it is comparable to other treatments I use, which are mostly for hydration. I didn’t find it particularly volumizing, but I also only used it on my lengths and ends. I mostly use hydrating products due to the length of my hair, it is not dyed, nor do I use heat tools often. The aim is to keep it healthy and prevent breakage as much as possible. I don’t love the tub that this comes in, but that is personal preference, I prefer pump packs, or even waste-free bars. I will continue to use it and try it as a leave in conditioner too, but I doubt I will repurchase because the usual treatment I use is better value.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was lucky to receive this as part of review crew and being a lover of anything watermelon, I was thrilled. This product smells absolutely amazing and I love the idea that it can be used multiple ways! I’m a huge lover of anything multitasking! However having said that I was not a fan of using it as a leave in as I felt even if you used less than the recommended 10 cent piece size of product, it weighed down my hair and I felt my hair was greasy after. I didn’t have this issue at all when I used it as a mask or conditioner as my hair felt hydrated and light after. It also works really well as a detangler! No matter what I do, my hair always knots itself and I’ve used it to detangle my hair when used as a conditioner/mask successfully. The product itself is thick and creamy and while the tub is good, I’d rather have it in a tube or bottle so it takes up less space in my shower and I’m able to travel with it. It felt clunky in the shower to open and use. For these reasons I gave it 4 stars.

The smell of watermelon is fresh, fruity, fun and not too overpowering. For context I have very long, straight fine hair. The product is being marketed as possible for 3 way use - mask, conditioner and as a leave-in. I personally preferred to use it as a leave in - you only need the tiniest amount. After using it as a leave-in my hair smelled fantastic for the rest of the day, and my ends felt conditioned and smooth. As a mask, it was great too and really helped with any post shower knots. Then as a conditioner, it was really easy to apply. The only negatives I had was to do with the packaging - it gets a bit messy, and would probably be better in a tube. If used as a conditioner or mask (given my long hair) I also would have preferred a lot more product than what was in the tub. Otherwise, I would recommend this to family and friends.

The product had a beautiful fragrance upon opening and when applied to hair the watermelon scent stayed which I really loved. I like that it can be used 3 ways as a mask, conditioner or leave in treatment. It left locks silky, smooth and pampered after every use and I found hair was hydrated and more nourished. It didn't cause any irritation as some do, was gentle on my sensitive skin and easy to wash out. I like that it is a Vegan formula and 97% natural origin. It is an amazing product I will continue to use as part of my regular beauty routine and I happily recommend that others give it a try, wonderful and the tub lasts a long time so makes for a fabulous purchase too.

I'm a big fan of putting coconut oil in my hair and letting it sit for about 3-4 hrs before I wash it because it makes my hair feel soft and helps strengthen my hair. I still put coconut oil in my hair and then when I'm washing it out I use the watermelon hair food as a conditioner. Even after washing it out completely it made my hair feel super soft for dayyysss!! I dont know what indegredients are added to make my hair feel so soft but its a miracle. The smell of the product can be a bit overwhelming if you use too much but the formula itself feels very creamy and easy to apply. I feel like this product could be used as a leave in conditioner or treatment and then wash out after a few hours but it still does an amazing job.

If you're a watermelon fan you'll love this! It smells like proper watermelon, not an overly sweet, fake starburst version. It makes washing your hair an absolute treat! I have colour treated, fine and oily-ish hair. I find it really hard to find a mask or conditioner that nourishes my hair but doesn't weigh it down. I have used this as both a mask and a conditioner, and I love it for both purposes! It is a thick cream and doesn't feel super nourishing when you apply it, but the treat comes when you brush and dry your hair! My hair was soft without being silicone soft (if you know, you know), and I also found that my roots didn't get as oily as fast. My ONLY gripe with this, and it's not even really a gripe, is the size of the tub and the fact that it's a tub! It is such good value for money as the tub is huge, however because of this it can be slightly difficult to open the tub, scoop your product out and then hold that product while also awkwardly holding the tub and trying to put the lid back on. It'd definitely be a 5/5 product if this came in a squeezy bottle or pump! Finally, I would 100% say that this rivals masks and conditioners that I've used from much more expensive brands, and I genuinely look forward to using this and repurchasing if and when I finish the tub!

I would buy this product just for the smell alone- even my hubby started using it because he loved the smell! Overall, I enjoyed using this 3 in 1 product. I prefer to use it as a mask rather than a leave in or a regular conditioner as I found it to weigh my hair down (thin hair, but lots of it). It did leave my hair feeling hydrated and soft though, so its a winner for me! My hubby has curly hair and found it to help his curls be more defined.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A sweet addition [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been using Garnier's Hair Food range for years now, and so the Watermelon treatment was a sweet addition. I always have a wonderful experience with this product - my hair is left with a yummy sweet scent that isn't overpowering, and my hair feels nice and soft. However, as I have fine flat hair, I don't notice any changes to the volume in my hair after using this treatment. I think its also a nice addition to your hair product collection because the price is amazing for the amount of product you get (A little goes a long way so this big tub will last you a while)

I love the smell and the natural ingredient claims of the product. I also have fine hair so knew it would be good for my hair type. The product is marketed as a conditioner, leave in treatment or hair mask. I tried using the product in each of these ways and to me it really just felt like a hair conditioner product. Leaving in did make my hair feel a little heavy and using as a conditioner and treatment it felt like a regular conditioner. I can recommend as a strong conditioner (although not an ideal container for in-shower use), but not overly effective as anything else. I will continue to use but wont repurchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, this smells delicious (think Starburst watermelon lollipop) and works really well with fine/thin hair. Comparative to my normal conditoner i found that this didnt leave my hair greasy after a condition and I ended up getting a few more days out of my wash. It definitely made my hair soft and easy to comb through, my only complaint would be that it didnt necessarily add shine (but im willing to compromise if it means non-greasy hair!). I mixed some of my blonde shampoo with this and used it as a toning mask which also worked really well!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have very limp and thin wavy hair that gets very oily and greasy in 2 days so I am constantly washing it. Recieved this product to reviews and I must say that it worked fantastic for my hair as a hair mask! I've been using the product as a mask twice a week for 3 weeks now.. the smell is just the right amount of sweet where it isn't too overpowering and it gives my hair volume, shine, silkiness and a visible bounce. I used it as a leave in, but it just made my hair heavy and looking oily. When I washed it off I noticed an instant difference. My hair looked more voluminous. There was a bounce and shine to my hair that wasn't there before. My hair just looked healthy overall. The only drawback to this product I would say is the packaging. Wish it came in a pump bottle rather than a tub for easier use. Nevertheless the product itself lives up to its claims when used in the way that is right for your hair! Definitely would buy it once I'm done with this tub!

The smell when I first opened it was amazing (it smells exactly like watermelon lollies). I have quite fine hair and it has been dyed quite a bit so it is damaged. I feel like after using this my hair felt smooth and soft. I tried it as a leave-in conditioner, mask, and conditioner and it was amazing as all 3. I was a bit worried about using it as a leave-in conditioner, thinking it would leave my hair stringy, but it left my hair feeling soft without weighing it down. I would definitely repurchase this product and recommend it to anyone!

The smell is sweet and fruity like a lollipop, the product is thick and buttery, spreads and glides through hair easily, detangles and leaves no unnecessary weight or oily feel. I honestly do not have though good things to say about this product! The only con for myself is the size of the tub and the difficulty I’ve found in purchasing this. It’s difficult to find in any shops and sells out very quickly! My hair type is thin and wavy but there’s quite a lot of it and it is usually difficult to find a product that nourishes my ends without creating oily and greasy looking effects on my hair but I’ve finally found it! Only loosing 1 star because the tub size doesn’t feel big enough for how much I love it! Price point is great but would love to see this come in a second larger tub size

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Treatment [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Treatment it is a good vegan product, I am not vegan but I have friends that are and definitely it is a product that I would indicated. I have been using Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Treatment for less than one month and already noticed that my hair is more softy and healthy. I have an only hair and I noticed that for me it was better to use as a leave-in instead of a conditioner. The product as a conditioner and a mask it is a okay product, for me the best use was as a leave-in. The smell, texture are great, I really like that it's 97% of natural origin and the generous sized jar of product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For watermelon lovers [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let's start with the scent of this hair treatment, it smells like a sweet delicious juicy watermelon. This is a 3 ways use hair treatment that can be used as conditioner, hair mask and leave-in conditioner. I have used this hair treatment for few weeks now and tested out all 3 ways. I love to use it as conditioner and hair mask because immediately after use my hair definitely feels hydrated, very smooth and silky. However, I didn't enjoy using this hair treatment as leave-in conditioner because it weights down my hair. Also, it leaves slight greasiness if applied to clean dry hair. All-in-all, it's a great hair treatment for it's price point. Love the scent and great to use as conditioner and hair mask.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am all for a product that I can use in multiple ways, that’s IF it does all of its jobs correctly. I usually will wash my hair probably 2-3 a week so I thought I’d each way each wash! My hair is super knotty when my hair is wet so I’ll always need either a spray or leave in conditioner to brush the knots out of my hair. My hair is very straight but fine. Leave in conditioner: you’ll only need about half a pea size as I found that my hair was very dirty after one day of using this. The smaller amount you use the better for a leave in I think Mask: this reaaalllly helped my post shower knots, used shampoo and conditioner in the shower and then put a small amount (maybe a full pea size this time) on the lengths of my hair. I tied up my hair up in a bun, put a shower cap and continues my shower. This worked great! Conditioner: same as above, really helped my knots I recommend this product as a mask and conditioner probably not a leave in.

Aside from the reason above, I was excited to try the volumising watermelon hair food for the following reasons: - I have thin, straight hair without much volume - I love the scent of watermelon in beauty products - I love the fact that the product is free or parabens and silicones On first use, I noticed that the scent was very pleasant without being overwhelming. The texture of the product was slightly more runny than other Hair Food products I’ve tried, but not in a bad way. I have primarily used this product as an in-shower mask/treatment whenever I wash my hair, which is about 2-3 times per week. It does a wonderful job of detangling my collarbone-length hair and making my hair feel soft and shiny. My favourite things about this product: - it comes in a tub, so there is no product wastage - 97% natural origin and 98% biodegradable - the refreshing scent - the way my hair feels after using this product; soft, healthy and shiny - the fact that it is so versatile! It can be used as a conditioner or a leave-in treatment also, although it haven’t tried it in this capacity. Overall, not only would I definitely recommend this product; I recommend the whole range of hair food tubs! I think there is a product in this range to meet everyone’s Haircare needs.

I used it as the leave-in conditioner and as a mask and I liked them both. I was hesitant to use a mask product as a leave-in conditioner because I thought it would make my hair stringy and look oily but it absorbed very quickly and did not give that effect at all. I have very fine virgin hair so a lot of products don't always work on me, but I found that this gave my curls a nice bounce without weighing them down. Definitely will re-purchase when I run out. I also love the Garnier is now cruelty-free and working towards being more natural. My only criticism, and the reason it's only a four-star, is that the smell is very artificial and very strong to the point that I can smell it in my bathroom when the lid is on, but honestly, worth it.
