What makes Purelan™ hypoallergenic?

Purelan™ formulation has been developed to minimize its allergenic potential. Carefully controlling the levels of FLA (free lanolin alcohols) in lanolin can reduce skin reactions even among those who are already sensitive to lanolin. Research shows that reducing the FLA content to less than 3%, particularly when detergent residues have been removed from the product, reduces the incidence of positive patch-test reactions among lanolin-sensitive skin patients. With an alcohol fraction of less than 3% in Purelan™, the allergenic potential to lanolin alcohols, which is observed rarely, is reduced to an absolute minimum as per EP (European Pharmacopeia).

Purelan™ does not contain other additives that might cause a reaction, such as preservatives and fragrances.

Additionally, Purelan™ is dermatologically tested. However, anyone with a known lanolin allergy should avoid using lanolin products, including Purelan™.

When should I apply nipple cream?


Use Purelan™ at every feed to relieve soreness, moisturise, and protect your nipples and skin. There is no need to remove the lanolin cream before feeding your baby.

How do you apply the lanolin cream to your nipples?


With clean hands, apply a pea-sized amount of Purelan™ onto your nipple area - the smooth, rich texture of Purelan™ makes it easy to apply. Purelan™ creates a protective layer on the surface of your skin and rehydrates skin from within - relieving soreness while skin heals naturally. There is no need to remove the cream again before feeding.

You only need to apply just a little which enables the tube to last much longer. It has a very faint scent and is formulated with 100% pure lanolin, without additives or preservatives, which makes it safe for breastfeeding bubs. I especially like the smaller 7g tube as I can stow it away in the stroller, nappy bag or on trips away.

However, I ended up buying it as it’s so good. This cream is a lifesafer whenever I had sore nipples or milk blisters. It’s almost like an instant reliever, and I can even see the result in no time. Another plus is we only need to apply a little bit of it due to the thick consistency. Totally recommend!

This cream helped keep the skin moist to heal the blister. The texture is easy to spread and not sticky too unlike some other balms.

I think lanolin is an absolute must when starting breastfeeding whether it's your 1st or 4th baby, it's helped me everytime. This one isn't sticky, and a little goes a long way. No fragrance either. Would buy again but only if at the same price point as other brands.

I have tried others that feel too greasy or don’t feel like they stay on the skin long enough to soothe and protect it, but this one does. I had quite sore, cracked nipples early on in my breastfeeding journey and this definitely helped them heal faster.

Not only was it easy and smooth to apply unlike other thicker creams but I also found that my bub didn’t fuss when trying to latch after it (I removed as much as I could before latching). I wish I had a bigger sample so I could have tested it overnight too, to see if it provided enough relief when moving in my sleep. Overall a great cream.

So I ended up trying several nipple balms to seek relief. I wish I had tried this one sooner. The sample pack was a perfect size to try out. The texture of the cream glides on and was not as sticky or oily as some other brands. Even better that I did not have to wash it off, it’s one less thing for a mumma to think about! Highly recommend it and for the comparable price, it’s affordable and rallies as one of the best on the market in my opinion.

Unfortunately I only got two used out of it but it did sooth my nipples even in that time. I would think given the chance it would work well with repeated use. I’ve used this and it was so soothing and relieved the pain. This is a must have item for all moms and I also put on my baby’s lips when they’re cracked in the winter and it worked.

My friends have recommended nipple cream for any skin dryness and they were right! It has become my Windex - a solution to any and every problem. Cracked lips, cracked nips, bad cuticles, dog's nose! Now with my third baby, I still use it and it provides the protective layer over the nipples to heal sore nipples especially during the first few weeks of breastfeeding. They apply easily and it's so convenient that it doesn't need to be removed before each feed. It does wash off easily in shower.

You don’t need to use very much when you apply to your nipples and it’s not runny so easy to apply. I like that I don’t have to wash off prior to feeding. I’ve used it on my cracked hands (from too much hand sanitizer) and it’s soothing on that too.

As a first time mum, I spoke to friends who'd breast fed before me; and a common tip was to get my hands on some Lanolin ointment. I was looking for a pure product as I didn't want to deal with extra ingredients that may clog my pores and ducts. I think the Purelan ointment was easy to apply, safe to use (No need to runoff before breast feeding) and a convenient healing option for me as I don't want to spend too much time with hydrogel breast pads or nipple covers. I often apply when I go to bed. And by the next feed (4-5 hours later) I feel more relief and comfort.

I think this is an essential product for breastfeeding moms and should be recommended to everyone.
