Rated 5 out of 5 by from D&G The One - it's a big yes from me! I invested in this lauded D&G fragrance and on the whole, have not been disappointed. True to reviews, it does have "...spicy-oriental notes ... a little warmer than our [D&G's] other men's scents". Top Note: It boasts some lovely top notes, including bergamot, coriander and basil (yes, basil is what I noticed and for some reason, it just works, too). Middle Note: I think this is where the money is, carefully balancing cardamom, ginger and neroli. Bottom Note: True to its reviews there are lingering notes of cedar, ambergris and tobacco (although nothing quite as heavy as a Tom Ford equivalent), which exude a sense of 'masculinity'. But a word of warning. I wouldn't wear this fragrence by day to visit the local cafe to meet your friends. Instead, exercise some mindful discretion and wear only in the evening; on a date with your partner perhaps? Remember, "style is knowing how to tap dance, but choosing not to." (Cary Grant) The Bottle: I love this rectangular, robust, and elegantly simplistic amalgamation of glass and metal with just a skerrick of branding. Less is more... more or less?! Criticisms: Duration. The fragrance definitely evolves into these amazing afternotes that live up to its formidable reputation. However, after 2-3 hours it all seems to dissipate leaving only the faintest residue. You may need to decant some into a small atomizer if you're hoping to maintain this fragrance all night long? Summary: Bang for buck?... this D&G fragrance lives up to its name. One might experience considerably more depth and duration from a Tom Ford (Oud Wood) equivalent. But at three times the price? I think D&G's The One, is incredibly good value. On the whole, it's a yes from me.
