Always use the thermometer with an undamaged lens filter for each measurement to prevent infection. The thermometer and this guide is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your doctor.

Directions

Please refer to instruction booklet for diagrams and complete instructions.
Remove the thermometer from the protective case.
Press the "Power" button.
Attach a new Braun lens filter.
Fit the probe snuggly into the ear canal.
Push and release the Start button.
Temperature displays.
Press the Eject button to remove the used lens filter.
Discard the used lens filter.
NOTE: The Braun ThermoScan® ear thermometer turns off automatically after 60 seconds of inactivity, and can also be turned off manually by pressing the Power button.

USAGE ADVICE

Temperature taking hints
Always use the thermometer with an undamaged lens filter for each measurement to maintain accuracy and hygiene, and reduce the risk of cross-contamination.

Right ear and left ear measurements can vary. Always take temperature in the same ear. The ear must be free of excess ear wax build up to take an accurate temperature. Use the untreated ear if ear drops or other medications have been placed in the ear canal.

General Care
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior, and if necessary to clean the probe tip, do so very gently with a cotton swab moistened with alcohol. Never use abrasive cleaners or submerge thermometer in water or any other liquid.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

Always use the thermometer with an undamaged lens filter for each measurement to prevent infection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive but easy to use I bought Braun Themoscan 5 IRT 6030 approximately 3 weeks ago for our newborn. The product is easy to set up and operate Intuitively. There are number of videos on youtube so you get to know more details as you need. It works with 2 AA batteries which are included in the box. The downside is nothing but the price. It is an expensive unit and you can find similar products for even half the price of this unit, or even less. However, as I needed a thermometer for my newborn which I anticipate to use regularly for next few years+, Braun or Omron was my preference and I chose Braun as it offered better product range and availability at Chemistwarehouse in my local area.

It's quick and easy to use, and seems to read temperatures in babies and adults accurately. The only annoying thing is that the bright screen means you can't find ears in the dark, but I'm not prepared to pay more for the model with the night light feature.
