MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

What is the Fefol Multi-Preg for?
Fefol Multi-Preg is a multivitamin and mineral plus fish oil supplement, providing support for you and your baby's daily needs during preconception, pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. Packed with 17 essential vitamins and minerals including 500 mcg of Folic acid which reduces the likelihood of neural tube defects, 250 mcg of Iodine for your baby's healthy brain and central nervous system development. And Iron to support the increasing demands of iron to make extra blood for you and your baby during pregnancy. It also contains Vitamin D3 which supports calcium absorption and normal bone growth and development. Plus Omega-3 for healthy brain and eye development.

Fefol Multi-Preg supplies 17 essential vitamins and minerals and fish oil for you and your baby during preconception, pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
When should I use Fefol Multi-Preg?
Fefol Multi-Preg can be taken at least one month prior to conception, during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. Fefol Multi-Preg provides nutrients involved in very early stage of foetal development

Directions

Fish oil supplementation in a prenatal multi
I loved finding a pregnancy multivitamin that contains some fish oil. I havent had any reflux issues with this formula whereas fish oil tablets usually do. I am alternating this with Elevit because its cheaper, and contains omega fats, however it has less magnesium and iron than Elevit. The amounts of vitamins and minerals varies greatly.

I found it exhausting looking through all of the options for pregnancy multivitamins. There are so many variables and so much conflicting information.
This one met the requirements that my doctor gave me in terms of active ingredients, it didn't upset my stomach and it's much cheaper than some of the alternatives. I appreciate that it's only one tablet a day, and as a liquid capsule, it's easy to take.
